How To Create An RSS Feed For Your Website In Minutes

By

Why do you want an RSS feed?

RSS which means really simple syndication, is a way that allows visitors to subscribe to your content and receive updates on when your site has new content. In this way it works very much like having your site book marked by a visitor, the big difference is instead of your link being lost in a sea of other favored sites that person gets an update when you post something new.

It also adds another way for bots to crawl your site helping it get indexed on the search engines faster, and allows you to submit your site to RSS directories.

However unlike blogging sites such as Blogger that give you an RSS feed when you create a blog, many website providers don't, leaving you stuck with having to create your own. Fortunately creating an RSS feed is very simple. Below is a video tutorial showing you how to create an RSS feed in just a few minutes for your website.

In case you didn't see all the steps here they are

1. Log onto Google and type in Rapid Feeds

2. Create a name for your feed where it says "Start creating your feed now"

3. Fill out the register form

4. Add the content you want in your feed including the URL, title and a brief description of that post.

4. After adding all the items go to "Feed Manager Home"

5. Click Publish

6. Add the RSS feed button code to your website and your done.

At this point you have two options you can leave your feed as is which is perfectly fine or you can submit that feed to Feed Burner. If you opt for the free version of Rapid Feeds there are some options such as tracking your feeds stats that you won't be able to use. Feed Burner gives you more options, buttons, banners, and stats. They also allow you to link your feed to your Google AdSense to monetize it.

To add your feed to Feed Burner simply take your feed URL create an account and it there. If you want to update your feed you'll still have to use Rapid Feeds but Feed Burner will automatically update their version of your feed in about 30 minutes.

great hub. I am going to do this asap. My problem is getting a low-cost website that is easy to set up so I can get my adsense up and running. I am no web programmer. Let me know.

Check up my hubs when you get a chance.

Good explanation snake eyes, of course making a RSS for a Hub is not exactly making it for a web site, since normally people do not update much their hub after finishing it.

But is a good article for people that own websites and blogs.

I vote useful.

Check my hubs also and see which you like to comment or read, thanks

Thanks Pol1ce, I agree and Hub Pages automatically updates their RSS feed anyway kinda like Blogger. I'm actually suprised that many website building sites don't offer any form of RSS feed since it's so widly used now.
