Songs That Never Loose Their Cool

Most of the music that we listen to for the most part is pretty disposable. One day your into this band that you think is great, only to throw out the CD a week later because it drives you nuts. But there are songs out there that seem to defy time and generations. Songs that seem to still be popular even decades after they were originally released and the original meaning long forgotten. Here is a list of some of my favorites, hope you enjoy.

Run Through The Jungle CCR

This song about America's gun obsession, and not the Vietnam war like most belive was released by CCR, short for Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1970 on their 5th album called Cosmo's Factory. If you ever spend time on an army base your going to hear this song playing somewhere

Guns N' Roses Welcome To the Jungle

Released on the 1987 debut album Appetite For Destruction, it quickly jumped to number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Long before Axl Rose's strange antics that led to the band's breakup in the mid 90's. Appetite For Destruction is also regarded by many to be the most successful of the bands albums.

Yup how can you tell I'm into alot of the older stuff. She Sells Sanctuary was originally released by the English rock band The Cult, in June 1985. There are close to a dozen different versions that the band remixed and released of this song, on multiple CD's

The first music video of mega metal band Metallica. One was released on the album And Justice For All, it was also the song that won Metallica its first Grammy in 1990 for best metal performance. The song's theme is from the book Johnny Got His Gun, a story about a soldier who in World War 1 who lost his legs, arms, eyes, ears, mouth, and every other ability to interact with the world, but whose mind was perfectly intact.

Do The Evolution Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam released their 5Th album called Yield in 1998. The song centers around the concept of humanity becoming drunk with power, and mankind's attempt at controlling everything in the world.

I'm not a huge fan of country music, I can barley stand it to be honest. But this song by Steve Earl is one of my favorites. Release in 1988, the song tells the story of a Vietnam war vet who comes home and his moonshine running family.

Disturbed released this updated version of Genesis' 1986 version on their third album Ten Thousand Fists in 2006. Like the original this updated version centers around politics, and the corruption of various world governments and organizations.
